EKO SW is a one-component polyurethane adhesive used as a binding agent for SBR and EPDM rubber granules in the construction of seamless sports surfaces and playground safety surfaces. It is suited to multipurpose sports pitches, running tracks, tennis courts, and playground safety surfaces where a durable, flexible rubber layer is required.
The adhesive cures by reaction with moisture from the air and the bonded materials. As temperature and humidity increase, cure time shortens. Once cured, EKO SW forms a flexible joint resistant to temperatures from -40°C to +80°C. The formulation is based on aromatic isocyanates — the adhesive joint is not resistant to UV radiation, which means surface colour change may occur after installation and during use. This is normal and expected behaviour for MDI-based rubber surface binders.
Granules — SBR, EPDM, or gravel for mineral-rubber substructure — should be mixed with the appropriate amount of adhesive in a mixing device for sufficient time to coat every rubber crumb. Surfaces must be installed on-site and at the final destination. Installation should be carried out at temperatures of 5–25°C and under no precipitation. The top EPDM layer should not be laid in strong direct sunlight.
EKO SW contains methylenediphenyl diisocyanate (MDI). Full PPE including respiratory protection, chemical-resistant gloves, and eye protection must be worn during use.
